Teacher Wins Ill-Health Retirement Pension Case

Brian Barr Solicitors recently represented Mrs Adams who suffers with Fibromyalgia. She was dismissed on the grounds of ill health in July 2011 but had received her last sick pay in March 2011. She submitted an application for Ill Health Retirement in August 2011 and the application was rejected in September 2011.

Mrs Adams came to us in January 2013 to instruct us to appeal against the decision of Teachers Pensions in January 2013.

We reviewed the various medical evidence, reverted to some of the experts and prepared a full and comprehensive Letter of Appeal in February 2013. The appeal was successful in March 2013 with the application for Ill Health Retirement being accepted.

We do not endorse any research, studies or sources mentioned within our blogs and comments. Furthermore, we do not endorse any medical advice provided, and would strongly recommend anyone seeking medical advice to contact their local healthcare provider.

  1. Dear Brian Barr ,
I suffer from fibromyalgia and was dismissed by my employer 2 years ago. I submitted medical evidence to my pensions department thru an ohs appointment. They rejected me stating my condition is not permanent and controllable . I used to do an office technical job 9 to 5 giving phone support.
I spoke to my pension department today to appeal and understand you take on such cases.
    Your faithfully
    Balbinder Boparai
