What is chronic pain?
Chronic pain syndrome is a painful condition that can be triggered or made worse by traumatic events, such as accidents and injuries. If you suffer with the condition, you may be entitled to chronic pain compensation. In addition, if your previous solicitor advised you to settle for too little in your past case, you may also be entitled to compensation. Although chronic pain disorder cases are notoriously difficult, we have a network of rheumatologists and pain management consultants to assist our clients in obtaining the compensation they deserve. If you have any questions about how you can make a claim, please contact us.
Claims for chronic pain can arise under a critical illness policy, accident protection plan or ill-health early retirement pension. At Brian Barr, we assist in all medical insurance claims.
We have vast experience in handling chronic pain compensation cases for the following conditions:
> Chronic pain syndrome
> Chronic back pain
> Post whiplash injury syndrome
> Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
> Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS)
> Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME)
> Ankylosing Spondylitis
Everyone has suffered pain at some point in their lives, whether it’s an excruciating headache, backache or toothache. Whatever the cause, pain can take the joy out of everyday life and when it’s alleviated, there’s usually a huge sense of relief.
Headache, toothache and backache are common pains that can cause annoyance for a short period of time. But what if there was little prospect of the pain subsiding and that instead of gaining relief, you would have to battle the unpleasant sensation every day?
Pain can be an alarming and distressing symptom, overwhelming daily life and disrupting an individual’s ability to function on even the most basic level.
Chronic pain syndrome sufferers are often forced to deal with these symptoms on a daily basis, and with no immediate resolution in sight, it can be simply exhausting.
Most people have suffered from toothache at some point in their lives, an uncomfortable throb which is almost impossible to ignore.
The relief of getting treatment can be overwhelming but when you’re caught in the middle of the pain, how do you feel? Exhausted, unable to concentrate and in no mood to socialise?
Living with chronic pain syndrome can be exhausting and completely dominate each and every day so managing it effectively is a priority.
The treatment prescribed for chronic pain will partly depend on the underlying cause, and the individual’s doctor’s own preferred regime.

A 39 year old man was injured when a forklift truck reversed into him and knocked him over. It was established that his employer was liable for the accident in which he suffered a back injury. He suffered from chronic back pain. He could not return to his previous employment and was limited in relation to DIY. It was felt that the injury was not likely to be permanent. He would benefit from a pain management course and would have to perform clerical work in the future.
Highly recommend this firm for their expertise in fibromyalgia. I am eternally grateful for all the hard work and care taken in supporting me during one of the most challenging periods of my life. Thank you.
I would absolutely recommend Brian Barr Solicitors. They looked after me after the previous solicitor’s would not listen as my health was taking a rapid turn downward because of fibromyalgia issues. Brian Barr’s diligence meant I had a suitable conclusion for the nature of my car accident.

Thank you Steven so very, much.
Alex Cohen and his team were nothing but amazing. They fully explained everything I needed to know throughout my entire case (which was just over 5 years!) with a great deal of compassion and care. I would have no hesitation in recommending Brian Barr solicitors if a member of my family or friend ever needed it.

If you have legal expenses insurance, you may have been told that you are obliged to use the insurer’s panel solicitor. That is not necessarily the case. For more information, click here.
